His international ministry has ranged from youth conventions, men’s retreats and training conferences in Australia, New Zealand, throughout Europe, parts of Asia and all over North America and the Caribbean. His long association with Youth Specialties has allowed him to touch the lives and ministries of thousands of youth workers and teenagers around the world.

  • Tyree Sterling

    Evangelism

Tyree Sterling’s workshop on evangelism equips camp leadership to build a Gospel-fluent staff culture that doesn’t wait until the “big service night” to share Jesus. Instead of relying on one major moment, you’ll learn how to help your counselors naturally start spiritual conversations anywhere (cabins, meals, rec time, late-night talks, etc… and lead campers toward a clear understanding of the GOSPEL. You’ll walk away with simple tools your staff can master quickly, a strategy for training seasonal volunteers, and a system you can implement in under two weeks. This is evangelism designed for real camp life, not a one-time service.

    Discipleship

Tyree Sterling’s workshop shows how discipleship can thrive in the short, intense environment of camp. Instead of assuming discipleship must be long-term or program-based, you’ll learn how to leverage “nudging moments” that happen constantly during camp (devotions, mealtimes, challenge courses, evening reflections, one-on-ones, and more). Counselors will discover how to identify a camper’s spiritual chair, how to guide them to their next step, and how to partner with home churches so spiritual momentum continues after camp. You’ll leave with a clear system that makes discipleship more simple, relational, and repeatable.

  • Tyree Sterling is a speaker and trainer who helps ministries create Gospel-advancing cultures. With decades of youth experience, he equips leaders to build Gospel-advancing systems that are simple, relational, and ones that leaders can implement quickly. Kids and God: “Too Young to be Disciples?”

Duffy Robbins

Summary

What does it mean for a young person to “accept Christ”, and how do we understand that commitment in terms of two primary camping ministry contexts: Scripture and youth?  What do we know about nurturing Christian commitment? How does that translate to the world of young people? This seminar will offer insights from Scripture, adolescent research and practical experience, to help you think about nurturing authentic faith in the life of your students.

About our Host Camp

Our motto is “Igniting a generation that seeks Him.” This motto is based on Psalm 24:6: Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob.” This reflects our desire to transform the next generation into one that seeks the Lord. Verses 3 and 4 describe such a generation: “Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. He will receive the blessing from the Lord and vindication from God his Savior.”

As we provide opportunities to encounter God, as we evangelize, as we encourage and as we equip individuals for active ministry, we recognize that God will use people in this process. We want the next generation to be known as a Generation that seeks him.
